BETHUNE COOKMAN WELCOMES BACK HALL OF FAMER LAURA WATTEN AS SOFTBALL COACH AND STARTS ROG

As the head softball coach at Bethune-Cookman from 1998 to 2005, Laura Watten led the Wildcats to six Mid-Eastern Conference crowns. A very successful run at the helm for the University of Maryland featured a stretch of three consecutive NCAA appearances for the Terrapins starting in 2010. Overall, she has amassed more then 600 career victories, numerous Coach of the Year awards and was voted into the Bethune-Cookman University Hall of Fame.

In a very happy twist of fate, Coach Watten has returned to BCU effective immediately and resumed leadership of the Wildcats. To boost funding for the program to invest in scouting systems, video equipment, field improvements and more travel, Coach Watten has turned to Reaching Our Goal.

“We worked with Laura when she was at the University of Maryland and we could not be happier for her upon hearing about the return to BCU,” said Jon Goldman, partner and co-founder of Reaching Our Goal. “We know that BCU has always been ‘home' for Coach Watten. Her inspirational leadership will certainly help the Wildcats move right back into the very top echelon of teams in the region.” The Wildcats last season reached the championship round of the Mid-Eastern Conference post-season tournament and they are expected to once again be a force in the Conference this year.
